Cardinals Win Streak Comes To An End In London
LONDON – Josh Niles’ bases-loaded single with two outs in the bottom of the 10th sent London to a 5-4 win over Hamilton on Friday at Labatt Park.
Majors’ leadoff hitter Kyle Maves went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Eduardo De Oleo had two hits and an RBI, and Francisco Fajardo singled twice.
London reliever Jose Arias (3-2) earned the win. He struck out six over 2.2 scoreless innings and escaped a first-and-third jam with none out in the top of the 10th. Travis Keys was pulled with one out in the eighth. He gave up four runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out two as London improved to 18-11.
Carlos Dominguez hit a three-run blast for the Cards (15-13), who entered the game having won six straight. Johnathan Solazzo had an RBI, and Tommy Reyes-Cruz singled twice and scored.
Fernando Rodney (1-2) allowed an unearned run in two-thirds of an inning to take the loss. He gave up two hits, walked one and struck out two. Owen Boon, in his first start since throwing a no-hitter, allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits over 6.1 innings. He scattered five hits, walked two and fanned seven.
Hamilton fell to 15-13.
