Cardinals Win 2nd Straight Against Kitchener

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals started slow, but scored six runs in the second inning to run away with a 10-6 win over the Kitchener Panthers Friday night at Bernie Arbour Stadium.


Johnathan Solazzo opened the scoring in the second, crossing the plate on a single by Tyler Duncan. Moments later, July Vittini came home when Brandon Nicoll was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.


Carlos Dominguez then delivered the big blow with a two-run double to left, scoring Tommy Reyes-Cruz and Duncan. Niko Kekatos followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Nicoll, and Dominguez later came around to score on a Yolki Pena at-bat, capping a six-run outburst that put the Cardinals firmly in control.


The Panthers started strong, scoring a pair in the first inning, capped by Runta Osawa’s solo homer. 


The Panthers continued to score in the second inning.


AJ Karosas scored the game’s opening run on a single to center field by Yordan Manduley. 


Runta Osawa moved up to second on the play, and Yunior Ibarra followed with a double to keep the rally going.


Steven Hospital earned the win with his three innings of work, giving up three hits. Evan Elliott took the loss. 


The Cards improve to 7-6, while the Panthers drop to 5-10. The back half of this home-and-home set resumes Saturday in Kitchener at 7pm.
