Cardinals Lose To Red Sox Sunday Afternoon

BRANTFORD – Brantford scored six runs in the fifth inning and held on for a 10-8 win over Hamilton on Sunday afternoon.  


Ethan Paulos singled four times and drove in a run for the Red Sox (8-27). Andrew Savage opened the scoring in the second inning with a two-run blast, Rene Tachioka went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Jakob Cantor, Carlos Ortega and Jeremie Veilleux all drove in a run.  


Nicholai Arbach (1-3) allowed an unearned run in 1.1 innings to earn the win in relief. He walked two and struck out two. Jorge De la Cruz, the last of five Brantford relievers in the game, picked up his third save after giving up a run in three innings. He walked two and whiffed seven. Leandro Meija started and went three scoreless innings, walking three and striking out three.  


Tommy Reyes-Cruz hit a three-run home run to lead the Cardinals (18-17). Jaden Brown went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Matt Hilderbrandt had two hits and drove in a run, and Brandon Nicoll added an RBI.  


Corben Peters (3-2) was tagged with the loss after giving up three unearned runs in an inning. He struck out two. Carwin Salcedo started and went 1.2 innings, giving up two runs on two hits with five walks.
