Cardinals Fall to Brantford Friday Night

HAMILTON – Brantford scored twice in the top of the ninth of a 4-3 win Friday night in Hamilton.  

Carlos Ortega led off with a solo home run to tie the game, and Brody Black – who hit a two-run blast in the second inning – singled home the go-ahead run with two outs.


Pedro De Los Santos (2-3) earned the win in relief after allowing a run on four hits over four innings. He walked one and struck out two. Jorge De la Cruz tossed a perfect ninth for the savestriking out two. Jeremias Sucre started and went four innings, giving up two runs on six hits with a walk and two punchouts.  Brantford improved to 6-17. 


For Hamilton (9-11), Tyler Duncan went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Niko Kekatos had two hits and an RBI. 

On the mound, Owen Boon struck out 13 through eight innings. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk. Fernando Rodney (1-1) took the loss after yielding two runs on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
