Cardinals End Week With a Loss Against Toronto
HAMILTON – Marcus Knecht and Jordan Castaldo homered in Toronto’s 8-1 win on Sunday in Hamilton.
Knecht opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run blast that scored Castaldo, who walked.
Castaldo’s three-run home run in the seventh put the game out of reach as Toronto improved to 10-7. Jhon Javier, Justin Marra and Spencer MacInnis all drove in a run.
Drew Howard (1-1) earned the win after giving up a run on three hits in four innings of relief. He walked one and struck out after taking over from Adam Jafine, who threw four two-hit innings. He walked three and struck out one.
Tyler Duncan drove in the lone run for Hamilton (7-8). Brandon Nicoll and Johnathan Solazzo each had a pair of hits.
Corben Peters (2-1) took the loss on the mound after yielding three runs on three hits in five innings. He walked three and fanned four.
