Cardinals Bounce Back With Win in Toronto
TORONTO – After their six-game win streak was snapped on Friday, Hamilton responded with a 13-3 win the next day in Toronto.
Yolki Pena went 2-for-4 and hit a grand slam in the Cardinals’ nine-run seventh inning to blow the game open. Nicolas Velocci and Tyler Duncan each had two-run singles in the frame, Brandon Nicoll homered and drove in two, Jaden Brown went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, and Tommy Reyes-Cruz had an RBI and one of 15 Hamilton hits.
Corben Peters (3-1) tossed five innings for the win. He allowed a run on five hits with two walks and four punchouts.
Hamilton improved to 16-13.
Dennis Dei Baning went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two steals for the Leafs (12-17). Jordan Castaldo singled and hit a solo home run, Justin Marra went 2-for-4, and Luca Boscarino added an RBI.
Josh Berenbaum (3-4) allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits over five innings to take the loss. He walked two and struck out one.
