Cardinals Shutout Barnstormers 2-0
HAMILTON – One night after Owen Boon threw the league’s first nine-inning no-hitter since 1977, four Hamilton pitchers combined to blank the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers 2-0 on Friday night at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.
Freisis Adames went the first six innings and scattered five hits. He walked one and struck out eight. Jacob Gajic and Steven Hospital handled the next two innings, and Fernando Rodney struck out two in the ninth for his fifth save.
Offensively, Josh Williams went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Brandon Nicoll drove in the other run as Hamilton (12-12) moved to .500.
Evan Morrison and Robert Mackie had two hits apiece for the Barnstormers (15-10).
Mizuki Akatsuka (2-4) took the loss on the mound despite going eight innings. He gave up two runs on six hits and fanned five.
