Cardinals Drop Game 1 To Baycats

BARRIE – Cesar Rosado struck out 13 over six innings, and Barrie’s offence did the rest in a 5-0 win over Hamilton to open the best-of-five semifinal on Friday at Athletic Kulture Stadium. Rosado (1-0) allowed just four baserunners – three hits and a walk – in his second start of the playoffs.

Ramon Henriquez earned the three-inning save. He fanned four but walked three in the ninth before inducing a game-ending double play with the bases loaded.

At the plate, Noel McGarry Doyle and Brandon Hernandez each had two hits and an RBI. The Baycats scored four times in the first two innings and took advantage of a pair of Hamilton errors. Francisco Hernandez drove in two, and Tristan Clarke had an RBI.

Carlos Dominguez, Josh Williams and Yolki Pena had Hamilton’s hits.

Enrique Saldana (0-1) took the loss after allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits in 1.2 innings. He walked three and struck out one.

Game 2 is Sunday afternoon in Hamilton.
